A warm welcome to our new members, we hope you enjoy your new adventure. It’s also terrific to see so many returning members. Thanks to all of you this term has begun with lots of excitement and enthusiasm as members and Tutors settle into their classes and look forward to learning something new or developing their skills further.
S.C.A.C. offers a wide range of Art and Textile courses and workshops, with new workshops being added as they become available so keep an eye on the website to keep up to date with our latest offerings.

Speaking of classes, S.C.A.C. has a NEW TUTOR this term. Teri White joins us Tuesday evenings 6:30-9:30 PM and offers a beginners class in Oils and Acrylics. If you’re interested, there are still a few places available. Checkout her course on the website www.springwoodarts.org and look for ‘Starting Out with Oils and Acrylics’ in the Courses section. Also check-out the photos below to see what Teri’s students created in their first class, outstanding!

If you’re new to S.C.A.C. you may not be aware that we host a member’s exhibition in October each year. Photos from the previous exhibition can be found on the noticeboard in the centre, or online. This is a popular exhibition, well known in the community, and a great way to get your work noticed. This year’s exhibition will be open to the public from Midday Friday 3rd October until 4:00 PM Monday 6th October, with the official opening being held Saturday 4th October 1:00-3:00 PM.
Planning is well underway for the 2025 exhibition and entry forms will be published on the website in the very near future. As a members’ exhibition all members are encouraged to enter works and attend the exhibition to see the wide range of amazing works that our members create.
Remember it is the member’s responsibility to ensure that the entered works are ready to display on the day. Framed works must be ready to hang, as must large textile items, mosaics and other works. If you are unsure of what to do to prepare your entries your Tutor will be able to provide guidance on what needs to be done and are looking forward to helping you. So, don’t be shy to ask them about framing, hanging, quilt sleeves, or any other questions you may have about the exhibition. Start the conversation in your next class because October is not that far away!
Would you like to contribute to our blog, see you work published, or see particular Art or Textiles related topics on our blog, please email your ideas/suggestions along with a photo or two of your work to S.C.A.C. at artcentre2777@gmail.com using the word BLOG in the subject line. Please note this is not an avenue for selling your work but a great opportunity to get you work noticed.
Enjoy your classes and workshops everyone, we have a highly experienced and friendly team of tutors to assist you.
