About the Course
Drawing with Graphite, Charcoal and Ink
(with the addition of other mediums)
This class is for everyone who loves to explore the art of drawing.
Using charcoal, graphite and ink you will learn how to master different techniques to create work that is bold, expressive and creative. Other works will be soft yet structured and formal. All this will be based around foundation drawing skills.
Some work will be in black and white however, we will also introduce other coloured mediums to build up texture and layers.
Material List
Drawing paper Stonehenge, Strathmore or Canson. Something with a bit of a tooth.
Willow charcoal, compressed charcoal, square and round.
Some graphite pencils, 2B, 4B and 6B.
Black permanent ink (small bottle).
1 hard eraser, 1 kneadable eraser.
2 retractable erasers, 1 very fine round,1 medium round.
Paper smudging sticks. 1 small and 1 chunky.
A tin of workable fixative.
Gloves.
Soft cloth or chux.
Small spray bottle.
NOTE: There will be a few other bits and pieces along the way that I will let you know when to bring these to class. I will also bring some materials to class for you to try out.
Your Instructor
Rose Gilbey

Rose Gilbey obtained her degree in Fine Art from the National Art School. Rose has taught at secondary school and TAFE and has exhibited works in both group and solo exhibitions. She is a multi disciplined artist with her main focus on Oil and Acrylic painting. However she also teaches a variety of art forms such as drawing, mixed media and print making and also has a keen interest and knowledge of Art History.
