About the Course
In this class we look at what makes a good portrait or figure work, getting a likeness, how to choose a good subject, drawing from life Vs drawing from reference materials and self portraiture.
This class is for all levels of drawing experience, from beginner, to intermediate through to advanced artist. You will be able to work at your own pace and the course covers some basic drawing techniques that can be applied to your portraits and figures.
We will be using many drawing mediums and you can choose the medium(s) you prefer in both black and white as in graphite, charcoal, ink, colour pencil, pastel (oil and soft) and pastel pencil Some of the subjects will be provided, others you will need to bring in such as a family photograph, or a picture taken from a book or magazine. You are encouraged to explore different drawing mediums – some mediums may suit your style better than others.

Linda Aubrecht

Linda Aubrecht teaches drawing (in all mediums), portraiture and pastels at SCAC.
Linda has taught art at Parramatta Community College, Nepean Community College,
Blue Mountains Creative Arts Centre and the Springwood Community Arts Centre
over the last 7 years.
After completing a BA in Design and Illustration at the University of Western Sydney,
Linda has worked as a freelance Commercial Artist encompassing many styles of
Illustration. These include Book Illustration both fiction and non-fiction, Technical
Illustration, Artists Impressions, Advertising, Portraits and other privately
commissioned works
