The Blue Mountains is an inspiring landscape for artists. This workshop will allow you to work in your chosen medium to create a unique image to take home.


The workshop is suitable for raw beginners to advanced painters wanting a new spin on their work.

Grant is an experienced Blue Mountains artist and will guide and assist you as necessary through the day.  


You will learn: and practice

  • Planning a painting using simple thumbnail sketches

  • Selecting an interesting colour palette to make your work interesting.

  • Expressive mark making and using mixed media.


Material to Bring.

What ever art materials you have. A5 sketch book for your thumbnail drawings and note taking, 2b or 4b pencil Biro, Faber Castell kneadable soft rubber. Mug for tea or coffee.


Oils/ Acrylics Painting brushes, stretched canvas panels ( A4 or A3) Painting rags to wipe brushes. Tubes of paint. Spray bottle for acrylics . Palette . Gamsol or liquin solvent only for oils.


Chalk Pastels. Pastel paper ( Art Spectrum ColourFix full sheet in dark blue, or your fav colour. Tear up into A4 size ). Can of workable fixative spray. . A few Art Spectrum soft pastels in warm and cool primary colours, in light medium and dark values, plus burnt sienna .. Grant will provide more colours.


Watercolour : Watercolours and palette, couple of brushes.  . Rrecommended watercolour Artist Quality paint brands, Art Spectrum, Windsor and Newton. Grant will provide two A3 sheets of 300gsm paper for each student.


Mixed media.: As above , add charcoal pencils, gesso, collage papers, etc.

Grant is an experienced Blue Mountains artist with several exhibitions under his belt and first prizes for his drawing practice. He is experienced in all the mediums on offer in this workshop and enjoys the creative rush of paint on canvas. He runs regular classes at the Art Centre.
